Worker Safety and Rights
Byron Tucker spent several years as a mine inspector enforcing federal safety standards that kept workers alive. He knows firsthand that worker safety is not a political issue — it is a matter of life and death. As your delegate, he will fight to protect every worker's right to come home safe at the end of the day.
Enforcing Safety Standards
Tucker served with MSHA — the Mine Safety and Health Administration — inspecting mines across southern West Virginia. He enforced federal safety standards and held operators accountable when they cut corners. In the House of Delegates, he will bring that same zero-tolerance approach to workplace safety enforcement across all industries.
Protecting the Right to Organize
A union card isn't politics — it's protection. Tucker is a proud member of UMWA Local 8843 and served as a steward and Executive Vice President with AFGE Local 3181. He understands what collective bargaining means for workers in Nicholas County and across the region, and he will defend the right to organize against any effort to weaken it.
Holding Employers Accountable
When employers violate safety laws, workers pay the price. Tucker will push for stronger penalties for companies that ignore safety regulations, faster investigations of workplace injuries, and greater transparency in how violations are reported and resolved.
Supporting Injured Workers
Workers who are injured on the job deserve full support — not a fight with their employer or an insurance company. Tucker will advocate for fair workers' compensation, accessible rehabilitation services, and protections against retaliation for workers who report unsafe conditions.
